A dúvida. O pensar demais.
A Gaiola Que Eu Não Sabia Que Existia

Enquanto humanos, damos significado e importância a tudo.
O livro que me ajudou a perceber isto foi Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope, de Mark Manson.
Põe-te em Primeiro Lugar
Cuida da Tua Casa
Achava que a confiança vivia no espelho. Não vive. Sentir-me bonita ajudou, mas sentir-me bem mudou tudo.

Treina a Tua Mente
Procura o Bom
Sorri a desconhecidos, e a ti no espelho.
Cumpre as Promessas Que Fazes a Ti Própria
Sou a minha prioridade.
Não me desiludo, e isso fez-me amar-me mais.
Ouve o Teu Instinto
Tornar-me alguém em quem posso confiar também me ensinou a agir segundo o meu instinto.
Romantiza o Teu Dia a Dia
A Ocasião És Tu
Acende as velas.

E tu, vives?

The doubt. The overthinking. The quiet certainty that everyone else got a manual you never received.
Can confidence actually be learned? Can you build it, the way you build any other habit?
For most of my life, I didn’t think so. Growing up, I was sure I would do the wrong thing. I believed I wasn’t pretty enough, clever enough or capable enough for anything to get better. So I stayed where it felt safe: in what I knew, what I could handle, what I could control. I made peace with being content with what I had and who I was, and I never dared to reach for more.
Today I know confidence isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you practise. These are the habits helping me build mine.
The Cage I Didn’t Know I Was In
Living in My Head
Instead of acting, I spent my energy dreaming. I lived a whole life in my head, as a version of me that could be but that I never had the courage to become. After a while, she stopped feeling like a possibility at all.
All it took was one discomfort.
One Step Out
One step out of my comfort zone was enough to pull the trigger. When I arrived in Tanzania, I was so aware of my discomfort that I was forced to discover what I was capable of. I saw and lived things that had only ever existed in my daydreams: the safari, the people, the bluest sea I’ve ever seen. It made me realise that dreams were never meant to stay in my head.
After that, everything got easier. I had already made it past the hardest obstacle of all: my own mind.
Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
You don’t need to go to Africa to take that first uncomfortable step. You just need one thing that pulls you out of your comfort zone. Only when you leave the cage do you realise you were in one. So open the door. These are the easiest ways I know to start:
Seven ways to open the door.
Start with one. Then another.Pick something you’d normally only do with company, like a sit-down dinner, a coffee or a movie at the cinema, and take yourself on a date.
The easiest and most effective of them all. You don’t need to cross the world. Take that weekend. Meet a new country. Get on a train and spend the day in another city.

Take the Meaning Out of Things
A Million Kinds of Normal
Insecurity lives in overthinking: being hyper-aware of everything you are and everything around you. Leaving my comfort zone and travelling, alone or with company, showed me how much is always going on in the world. I met so many different versions of “normal” that I finally made peace with being different.
The more you travel, study and stay open-minded, the more you’ll see that there are a million perspectives and a million ways to be “normal”. That’s what gives you the confidence to find yours.
Just Dust in the Universe
As humans, we give meaning and importance to everything. That makes us extremely, and unrealistically, self-centred. Once you take that weight off things, and off yourself, and accept that you are just a speck of dust in a cosmic universe like everyone and everything else, the pressure lifts. The pressure to be or act a certain way disappears. You give yourself room to fail, and that’s where the confidence to be yourself grows.
The Two-Minute Rule
The truth is, nobody thinks about what you do for more than two minutes. Everyone is stuck in the same human condition of believing they are the centre of the world. People might comment, advise, even hate, but only until they return to their own self-centred world. Just like you. So does it really matter?
The book that helped me understand this was Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope by Mark Manson.
Put Yourself First
Look After Your Home
I used to think confidence lived in the mirror. It doesn’t. Looking good helped, but feeling good changed everything. Confidence starts when you take care of yourself: movement, self-care, water, consistent sleep and mindful eating did more for me than anything else.
I learned to make time to care for myself. Through that, I learned to love myself and my own company, because I nurtured it. I speak to myself with care. I look after my space, my home (my body) and my limits, so I can actually enjoy being me. In the end, insecurity comes down to not liking the version of you that you are. So solve it at the core, and become her.

Train Your Mind
Look for the Good
Once the basics are in place, you’ll naturally feel calmer and safer in your own skin. Then comes the fun part.
Your brain takes in an overwhelming amount of information every day, but it only lets through what it believes matters. That’s usually the things you consume and talk about most, exactly like the algorithm on your phone. There’s a name for it: the frequency illusion. So train it.
Speak about yourself the way you’d speak about your best friend, because that’s what you are. Smile at strangers, and at yourself in the mirror. Look for the pretty flowers and the cute dogs. In my journal, I always keep a list of the things that made me smile and feel good that day. To fill it, I have to go out and create them.
Keep the Promises You Make to Yourself
Along with self-talk, nothing changed how I see myself more than this: I never break my word to me. I am my own priority. If I promise myself I’ll wake up at 6, I do. If I promise myself a movie and a quiet evening after work, I keep it.
I made myself reliable, and now I’m the person I trust most with decisions and consistency. I treat myself the way I’d treat someone I love. I don’t let her down, and that made me love myself more.
Listen to Your Instinct
Becoming someone I can trust also taught me to act on my instincts. As I got to know myself, I learned what works for me and built a system around it. So when that little feeling in my chest kicks in, I listen. I step back, I follow it, and I trust it.
Romanticise Your Everyday
You Are the Occasion
Your environment matters more than you think. Don’t wait for an occasion. You are the occasion. Plate a pretty meal as if you’re on a date. Buy yourself flowers. Wear the cute outfit to the supermarket. Put on good music and dance in the kitchen, exactly like in the movies. Light the candles. Sit on the bench with the best view. Life is in the details that make you feel special.
Choose What Surrounds You
Choose hobbies that make you feel cool, pretty and creative. Do the things you’ve only seen “cool” or “lucky” people do. Build a real-life vision board by surrounding yourself with everything you want to become, hear and wear. The people you choose are the most important part of all. You become the average of everything around you, so choose wisely.
If your life doesn’t feel like a movie, you’re doing something wrong.
The everyday rituals.

What brings all those things together is organising my brain and therapy. I talk to my therapist every time I can, I look out for my mental health and try to demystify all the insecurities and doubts I have in my brain. I journal all of it, every day, and try to brain-dump all the things I believe are important to retain and solve. I keep track of my thoughts and my routine, and I organise my life to feel good with me and the life I choose.
I still have a long way to go, and I work on myself to become better and feel better with me every day, and I intend to never stop. Being and feeling confident is a hard path that most people struggle with, even without noticing.
I want to assure you that everyone struggles with some parts of themselves, even the most amazing people you see and admire. The only difference between them and you is that they work on themselves like a full-time job and live with intention. Do you?
